Rivers expects physical Game 5

Celtics coach Doc Rivers tonight said he expects some rough play by both teams in Game 5.

“It should be,” said Rivers. “It’s Game 5. Both teams have seen each other now four times. They know what we’re running, we know what they’re running. You tend to run into each other more when that happens. That’s what makes the game so physical.”

Rivers also said that he’s not surprised to be tied 2-2 with a lower-seeded team.

“They’re not a seven seed,” said Rivers. “But we know that. We still have to play. They play hard. They shoot the ball well. Our fear going into the series is that they have four guys, with Rose, Hinrich, Gordon, and Salmons, that can get their own shots.”

Rivers also had an interesting take on Bulls forward Joakim Noah.

“I think everybody gets caught up in Noah and all the other stuff,” said Rivers. “But he’s a terrific player. I don’t want to put him into the category of a [Dennis] Rodman, but everyone always got caught up in Rodman’s antics, and they forgot about all the little stuff he did on the floor. We don’t get lost in that. He’s a terrific basketball player.”
