Outrageous stat for Perkins
How’s this for a line: 16 points, 19 rebounds, 7 blocks.
And no fouls.
Kendrick Perkins turned in a dominating performance in Game 5 against the Bulls Tuesday night, but the biggest stat he turned in may have been that he did not commit a personal foul. In 48 minutes on the court, Perkins managed to avoid the ire of the officials.
“He played very smart,” said Celtics coach Doc Rivers. “And like I told you yesterday, we talked to Perk. I mean, we just don’t have enough bigs. He has to stay on the floor. And we’re giving him a few minutes rest here and there. But he’s our only seven-footer — really, that we’re playing — and he was fantastic. When you look at his blocked shots, the changed shots, the tough rebounds, he was fantastic tonight.”
Notice the Freudian slip there by Rivers. Mikki Moore is also a seven-footer, but he did not get off the bench in the Game 5 win. It officially goes down as a DNP, coach’s decision.
