Terrence Concannon, a former Massachusetts resident, left his running shoes at home and ran the 2026 Boston Marathon barefoot.
“I’ll be the youngest person to ever do it,” Concannon said in a social media post.
Concannon, a Tampa resident originally from Hingham, finished the Boston Marathon in 03:57:23, the BAA’s tracking website shows.
“You can’t beat this guys. Special city. Much love,” Concannon said on social media, while running down Boylston Street.
Concannon raced in support of Tenacity. The nonprofit runs after-school sports programs that help Boston kids develop “academic motivation and achievement,” according to its website.
According to Concannon, he raised $13,000 for charity.
Marathon training is extensive for any runner, but Concannon’s training regimen included running on a spread of Lego bricks, kicking a watermelon until it bursts, and stabbing his feet repeatedly with a fork, according to videos he’s posted online.
“My feet hurt but that’s not going to stop me from finishing this Boston Marathon,” Concannon said.
Concannon even attracted attention from comedian Bert Kreischer, who took to social media to encourage spectators to give Concannon ice cream and a “Big Gulp” alongside the course.
The comedian also joked that supporters ought to bare themselves at Heartbreak Hill in support of Conannon, Kreischer said.
“He’s going to need nudity. Male nudity and female nudity. He doesn’t care, gender is fluid for him,” Kreischer said in an Instagram post.
While it’s unclear whether any fans showed up to Newton naked, someone apparently did hand Concannon a fish from the sidelines, a video posted to Instagram shows.
