University of Washington alum Isaiah Thomas might have a fellow husky on the court with him next season.

Leading up to Tuesday night’s NBA Draft Lottery, Washington freshman Markelle Fultz elaborated on why he believes that Boston would be “a great fit” for him.

“Me and Isaiah Thomas would be a great backcourt,” the 18 year old told CSNNE. “I think the opportunity that would be there would be amazing. For him to play off the ball—where I think he’s better at it—or him to play on ball and I can play off the ball, I think the chemistry would be amazing.”

Though Thomas left Washington after his junior year in 2011 to join the NBA, Fultz revealed that the Celtics All-Star stays active within Seattle.

“He came back to play with us this summer,” Fultz said. “I text him every once in a while. The Seattle guys do a good job of coming back and spending time with the colleges and the communities, so it’s been an honor to meet those guys and have a communication with them.”

The Celtics ultimately secured the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft but what they elect to do with the selection won’t be announced until June 22.

Fultz, however, thinks he deserves the honor of being selected first overall.

“All the hard work I put in, the way I performed on the big stage … I think I have everything to be the No. 1 pick,” he said.
