There’s a smattering of spring perennials flanking the front steps of this Colonial home in Sherborn — a proudly bucolic MetroWest town (about 25 miles from downtown Boston) that boasts 50 percent of its land is set aside for open space, including the 125-acre Farm Pond.
From the driveway that rises to meet the home set into a hilly 2-acre lot, a brick walkway leads to the front door; the large brass eagle door knocker comes with the house.
The 95-square-foot foyer is where the stairwell to the upper floor is located, as well as access to the shared spaces of this home.
This house is a series of interconnected quadrilaterals of varying sizes, starting with the 298-square-foot living room. The hardwood flooring runs the length of the house, and there is a pair of windows overlooking the front yard. A key adornment is the brick-faced wood-burning fireplace. None of the fireplaces were used by the current owners.

A clear glass slider at the rear of the living room connects to the 213-square-foot sunroom, where the floors, the ceiling, and the walls are milk-white, setting off the green-painted doorway. The three-season room has exposed beams, a ceiling fan, and a skylight. The bifold doors open to a set of stairs that lead down to the large, wooded lot.
Returning to the foyer and moving to the left is a hallway that provides access to the 135-square-foot dining room, a 23-square-foot half bath, and the 226-square-foot kitchen.

The dining room evokes an earlier New England time with shiplap-style wainscoting painted muted teal covering the lower third of the walls, hardwood flooring, double-hung windows on the front and side walls, and a central light fixture.
A double door brings one into the one final quadrilateral on this level: the 165-square-foot family room with a brick-faced fireplace, hardwood flooring, and double-hung windows on the front and rear walls. There is built-in shelving and a paneled walls painted white.

Next comes the kitchen. The countertops are white laminate offset by honey blonde trim. The cabinets are the same shade of white and arrayed in a horseshoe shape, with the stainless steel sink located in the middle. There are three rectangular windows, each with clear panes of glass, aligned above the sink. A skylight makes it so natural light is never in short supply. The updated appliances, including the electric range, are stainless steel.

The stairwell in the foyer is the entry point for the upper level, which contains the primary suite and the 563-square-foot bonus/display room.
The primary suite is on the top of the stairs and to the right. The 234-square-foot bedroom has hardwood flooring, three double-hung windows, and currently hosts a four-poster bed. There is a 24-square-foot walk-in closet. The full bath has beige ceramic tile on the lower half of the walls and as the backsplash to the shower. The single vanity is a beige porcelain pedestal sink. The floor is tile.

Returning to the hallway, there is the second full bathroom — similar to the primary, except the tile is blue, and it has a shower/tub combination. The larger of the two secondary bedrooms, at 157 square feet, is in the front with three double-hung windows and hardwood flooring.
The final bedroom, at 138 square feet, has been used as a laundry room by the current owners. Traveling through it is the pathway to the bonus room. It’s a 32-foot-long rectangle with exposed wooden beams crossing a white cathedral ceiling. Originally built for a former owner who wanted to display an art collection, there is gallery lighting and a large built-in storage cabinet with varying sizes of drawers. A clear glass door leads to a rear deck with access to the yard.

The 690-square-foot basement is unfinished. There is a two-car attached garage.
The home is currently leasing solar panels for its rooftop to help with energy costs. It has a heat pump and four separate heat and air conditioning zones. Sherborn has a group electricity purchasing program.
Alexis Madison of The Powissett Group/Compass has the listing. As of press time, a contingent offer had been accepted on the property.
