As rumors continue to swirl about A.J. Brown’s seemingly inevitable arrival in New England later this summer, are the Patriots looking to actually clear some room in their wideout corps?
NFL insider Jordan Schultz fueled some of that speculation on Monday, noting that Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has garnered interest this offseason.
“A name that has come up in trade talks is #Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte, who is entering the final year of his contract, according to multiple league sources,” Schultz posted on X. “With Romeo Doubs coming in and the eventual A.J. Brown trade, teams believe he could be available for the right price.”

The Patriots parting ways with a talented 23-year-old receiver like Boutte initially seems fishy, especially given that the LSU product had a breakthrough year in 2025 as Drake Maye’s go-to deep threat.
Boutte — a sixth-round pick by the Patriots in 2023 — reeled in 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns over 14 regular-season games. He added nine catches for 168 yards and a touchdown during four playoff games.

Boutte could be a key cog in New England’s offense for the foreseeable future. But, there are a few complications.
As Schultz noted, Boutte is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is due for a sizable raise moving forward.
If a potential A.J. Brown trade is all but a lock once the Eagles can avoid a sizable dead cap hit, it also further crowds New England’s wide receiver room — which already added Romeo Doubs in free agency.
Granted, if New England also isn’t keen on giving up a Day 1 or Day 2 draft pick for Brown, the Eagles also might covet a talented young receiver like Boutte to complete the deal.
This is not the first time that Boutte has heard his name sprout up in trade rumors.
“I heard about it, but I tried not to really put too much time into that,” Boutte said last May after he was mentioned as a potential trade chip “You know, there’s just a lot of people just sitting behind phones and just typing. It’s got nothing to really do with me.”
