Welcome to the Garden …
Welcome to the Garden, where the Boston Celtics (49-16) will take on the Memphis Grizzlies (16-47) at 7:30 p.m.
As colleague Frank Dell’Apa reported earlier today, Rajon Rondo will play tonight for the Celtics. Rondo declined to speak to reporters before the game, instead rushing off to the court to get some work in. Both of his ankles heavily-taped, Rondo did some shooting while about 35 teenage girls stood on the side of the court just screaming his name. Poor Kendrick Perkins, standing right there and getting no love.
On paper, this game looks like something of a dud. But they (very) rarely play these games on paper. Memphis has a 4-26 road record but has an exciting core of young players which includes Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo.
On the other side, the Celtics can clinch the Atlantic Division title tonight with a win. So something to play for there.
Not planning on holding a live chat tonight, unless you commenters out there chime in before the game and convince me otherwise. Still going to bring you the usual blogging goodness either way.
Back in a bit with more pregame updates.
