It is what it is
Doc Rivers is gregarious. He’s personable. He can tell a story.
So it comes as a bit of a surprise that Rivers said he has great admiration for the style of Patriots coach Bill Belichick, whose public personality is anything but boisterous.
“I love [Belichick’s interviews]” Rivers said earlier this week. “They’re great. What he says is right to the point. And there’s always a message. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don’t.
“I just love everything he’s done there. When [Patriots players] talk, you just feel like he’s talking. It’s pretty cool to watch… They’re just so committed to each other.”
Rivers said he likes another aspect of Belichick as well.
“I wish I could dress down for games,” said Rivers, he of the textured dress shirts and silver shamrock cufflinks. “That would be great.”
