New York tension
Isiah Thomas’s mood changed dramatically when he was asked a fairly innocuous question by a New York reporter about point guard Stephon Marbury. Thomas was asked whether Marbury had the ball in his hands more the past two games, and whether that was by design.
“We take it out of bounds, and when you take it out of bounds you hand it to him,” said Thomas, shuffling a bit. “He’s the point guard. He’s the leader out on the floor. He has it in his hands a lot.”
Thomas was pressed further on the issue and paused about 9 seconds before answering.
“I think he has it in his hands the majority of the time,” he said. “He has it in his hands more than any other player on the team.”
Marbury will start tonight for the Knicks.
