A corrections officer at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department was arraigned Monday on several child rape and human trafficking charges.

Richard Kielczweski, 41, of Hanson, pleaded not guilty in Plymouth District Court and was ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing, according to The Boston Globe. He is facing charges out of several Plymouth County towns.

Kielczweski was arrested Friday as part of a joint investigation by police in Hanson, Halifax, and Middleborough, along with State Police. He was allegedly involved in “numerous sexual assaults” and made child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of a 15-year-old boy, police and prosecutors said in a press release on Facebook.

Halifax police further specified that Kielczweski was wanted in connection with allegations of child rape, human trafficking, enticing a child under the age of 16, and witness intimidation. He also allegedly assaulted the 15-year-old victim, according to a separate press release from Halifax police on Facebook.

Kielczweski was hired as a corrections officer at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department on July 6, 2015. The department told the Globe that it took “swift action” when it learned of the charges against him.

“The charges against Officer Kielczweski are extremely serious and deeply disturbing,” the department said in a statement. “The Department has taken the swift and decisive action to indefinitely suspend Officer Kielczweski.”

In Hanson, Kielczweski faces three counts of paying for sex with a child under 18; two counts of child rape aggravated by a 10-year age difference; and one count each of child rape with force, posing or exhibiting a child in a sexual act, and trafficking a person under 18 for sexual servitude, according to prosecutors.

State Police and local police in Hanson, Halifax, and Middleborough are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the charges, prosecutors said. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday evening.
