High praise for Celtics
Knicks coach Isiah Thomas had some insight into the Celtics before tonight’s game. Thomas was asked if the key to beating the Celtics was getting to their bench.
“It’s funny, when I was playing [with Detroit] we used to always say, ‘If we could ever get to the Celtics bench,” said Thomas. “If we could ever get to Greg Kite and get Parish, McHale, or Bird out of the game we’d be alright. But we never got to Greg Kite. And I don’t see these three guys going away. I think it’ll be the same thing.”
“When you have three players such as those, they give everyone else confidence. Everyone plays a step above where they normally would play. So if you isolate those guys and put them on different teams, they probably don’t have the type of confidence they would playing with those three guys.”
“They’re an excellent basketball team. They’re playing good basketball right now. And I don’t think that’s going to change.”
