Boston Celtics

Celtics, 54-31 (half)

The Celtics have a solid lead at halftime thanks to some decent shooting, solid rebounding, and great defense.

Ray Allen is leading the Celtics with 11 points. Rajon Rondo has 10.

Quentin Richardson has 7 points for the Knicks, who are shooting just 32 percent. Five different players scored just 2 points each for the Knicks.

  • Glen “Big Baby” Davis was clearly the big-man choice off the bench for Doc Rivers. Davis responded with 5 points, 1 rebound, and some very energetic defense for the Celtics. He was the most noticeable player on the court for a good stretch in the middle of the second quarter.
  • The Celtics had 14 assists in the first half, which actually seems low for them. The Knicks had 7.
  • Celtics forward James Posey dove into the stands for a loose ball after a scramble with New York’s Renaldo Balkman. Posey dove headfirst into Celtics radio announcer Sean Grande, who by all accounts kept talking through the incident. Grande was knocked clear on his back as Posey tipped his chair over.
  • Gabe Pruitt checked into the game for the Celtics at the end of the half. Pruitt is back from his stint with the Utah Flash.
  • Haven’t seen any celebrities here tonight so far. I keep waiting for David Ortiz to walk through the door.
