The Celtics got off to a quick 10-3 start in the first quarter, forcing the Knicks to call a timeout at the 8:54 mark.

Rajon Rondo made the first two baskets of the game for the Celtics, a layup followed by a jumper. After a Kendrick Perkins dunk, Rondo made the next basket as well against a Knicks team clearly giving him space.

Kevin Garnett didn’t attempt a shot until 3:23 remained in the quarter. It was a hook shot. He made it. Brian Scalabrine has more points (3) than Garnett.

The Celtics haven’t done anything spectacular here in the first, but they’ve held the Knicks to 26-percent shooting.

  • Knicks coach Isiah Thomas was booed by the crowd when he was shown on the Jumbotron. Wait, are we in Boston or at MSG?
  • One Celtics fan in tonight’s crowd has a sign that reads, “I came to see The Show, Leon Powe.”
  • The Celtics are wearing their alternate green-and-black uniforms tonight. The Knicks are in white.
