Boston Celtics

Fans wait, hope

BOSTON GARDEN – Tony DiStefano balances a desire to get results with endless patience. He’ll probably do it again this year. Depending on what happens tonight, he doesn’t know if he’ll do it after that.

DiStefano is a Celtics season ticket holder.

The Celtics diehard is attending tonight’s NBA Draft party at the Garden along with his 14-year-old son A.J. He’s a big Georgetown fan and hopes the C’s pick up forward Jeff Green with the No. 5 pick. He’s giving the Celtics one more chance.

“I think Danny’s trying,” said DiStefano. “They’ve had some bad luck.”

A.J. also hopes they pick Green. The younger DiStefano thinks Gerald Green and Al Jefferson are both off limits to other teams in trades.

His father says only one thing will make him mad.

“They can’t draft [Joakim] Noah,” said DiStefano. “If they pick him that’s not going to help the team. They have the fifth pick. There are some pretty good players available.”
