Trade winds blowing
The Lakers and Timberwolves were discussing a trade that could send Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles in a potential four-team deal, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times.
Under the proposed deal, the Lakers would acquire Garnett and send forward Lamar Odom and young center Andrew Bynum to a third team, the Indiana Pacers, according to Bresnahan. The story did not say which players would leave Indiana. The Times did report, however, that Kobe Bryant was not part of the proposed trade.
Interestingly, the report cited the Celtics as the fourth team involved at one point, though that hit a dead end “reportedly because the Celtics didn’t like what they would have gotten.”
Garnett, who has never demanded a trade from Minnesota, was involved in trade rumors last week. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and Wolves boss Kevin McHale discussed a potential deal to bring Garnett to Boston, but Garnett’s agent Andy Miller said ‘‘Kevin is not coming to Boston,’’ when reached by the Globe’s Shira Springer Thursday.
