Lawrence man stopped on I-93 charged with heroin trafficking

Two kilograms of heroin were found in a “secret compartment” in the vehicle. State police

A Lawrence man was charged with heroin trafficking Monday after a trooper and his K-9 partner discovered two kilograms of heroin in a “secret compartment” of his car during a traffic stop on I-93, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Elias Suarez-Guerrero, 29, was also charged with giving a false name to police and several motor vehicle violations, state police said.

When Suarez-Guerrero was pulled over on the interstate in Stoneham for speeding and driving erratically, police said he initially identified himself as Rolando Garcia and told the trooper he had no license.

Police said Suarez-Guerrero was arrested after he handed the trooper a fake ID. Further investigation resulted in the discovery of the heroin.
