Boston Fire Seeks to Build New Stations, Update Others

The Boston Fire Department wants to spend $26 million to build two new firehouses and renovate two more within the next five years, according to a Boston Globereport.

Fire Commissioner Joseph E. Finn’s plan is outlined in Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s proposed $2.86 billion budget. Finn wants to build a $13 million station for Engine 17 on Dorchester’s Meetinghouse Hill and a $10 million station for Engine 42 in Egleston Square, near the Roxbury-Jamaica Plain border. Construction would begin in 18 months.

Finn also wants to renovate the Engine 50 firehouse in Charlestown and the Engine 33 firehouse on Boylston Street.
