Marathon Bombing Jury Forewoman: ‘I Wasn’t Affected by’ the Marathon
A woman known as Juror 286 was chosen by the Boston Marathon bombing jury as its foreperson — the person who organizes the jury’s thoughts and gives the verdict to the court, according to a Boston Globe report.
While her identity has not been made public, the Globe is reporting background information learned during the jury screening process. She is a general manager of a restaurant outside of Boston, a mother, and one of seven women on the jury.
“I don’t go to the marathon, I don’t live in downtown Boston, I wasn’t affected by it,’’ Juror 286 told U.S. District Judge George A. O’Toole Jr., according to the Globe report.
During the screening, she was also asked by prosecutors whether she could sentence someone to death. She said yes.
Tsarnaev was convicted of all 30 counts, including 17 that carry the possibility of the death penalty.
