First Homicide For Fremont, N.H.
The small, New Hampshire town of Fremont made it 250 years without a homicide.
Until October 17.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office said autopsies in an apparent homicide revealed that 52-year-old Mary Lucas died in her Fremont home after her boyfriend, 51-year-old Michael Porter, allegedly strangled her to death. Porter was found dead in a truck with what police say is a self-inflicted single gunshot wound to the head.
Local historian Matthew Thomas told the New York Daily News that the victim’s murder is the first homicide in the town’s history. Authorities are still investigating.
The murder-suicide comes following the town’s 250th anniversary in June, Thomas told the Daily News.
