Boston man charged with murder, arson in year-old case
Police have arrested a Boston man and charged him with murder and arson in connection with a shooting last year in Dorchester.
Officers arrested Victor Arrington, 30, of Boston, on Tuesday night and charged him with murder, arson, and armed assault with intent to murder.
Boston police responded to a report of a shooting at a Dorchester residence on March 31, 2015. Police say a fire had been set on the first floor of the building. Once the fire was extinguished, police say they searched the area and discovered Richard Long, 37, of Boston, suffering from a gunshot wound. Long died at the scene.
“To Richard’s family, I hope the news of today’s arrest brings with it some level of solace, comfort and closure,” said Police Commissioner William Evans. “To my detectives, members of the Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Suffolk County District Attorneys Office, I’d again like to thank them for all of the hard work done and dangers confronted in arresting the suspect wanted for the murder of the victim in this case.”
Arrington will be arraigned Wednesday in Dorchester District Court.
