Here’s how to cash in on National Doughnut Day
Time to eat the doughnuts.
Today is National Doughnut Day, meaning Dunkin’ Donuts will hand out a doughnut on the house with the purchase of a beverage. Likewise, Honey Dew Donuts is offering a free Mocha Madness doughnut (specifically) when you buy a medium drink.*

On the indie beat, Union Square is pairing their (paid) doughnut purchases with perks — photobooth time with Danger Booth and coffee from Counter Culture. And the South End’s Blackbird Doughnuts is encouraging you to pre-download a delivery app for a “super sweet Friday’’ in a mysterious, intriguing move.
The annual holiday arrives on the first Friday of every June since it was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army. The sweet celebration honors Salvation Army workers who served doughnuts and coffee to provide “spiritual aid and comfort to the American soldier and his allies’’ in the French trenches during World War I.
