How to Take the Air Out of Your #DeflateGate Super Bowl Party

Throwing a Super Bowl party? If you haven’t spent the last month on Pinterest searching for instructions on how to build the ultimate “snack stadium,’’ here’s an alternate way to throw a themed party.

It’s not a party without balloons.

Go to a store. Buy some balloons. (If you can find football-shaped ones, awesome, but if not, any color or shape balloons will do.) Blow them up, but not all the way. If you want to be specific, buy 24 and blow up 11 only partially. The rest can be blown up all the way.

Anyone can deflate a soufflé.

Have you longed to try challenging recipes, but held back for fear of disappointing your guests? Unless you’re an experienced chef, chances are your soufflé will deflate. Voilà! Here’s a recipe for chocolate soufflé. Or you can opt for a savory variety, like this apple cheddar cheese soufflé.

Everyone loves a surprise.

Super Bowl parties are all about adults acting like children. Buy a bunch of whoopie cushions and place them strategically on all seating areas.

Serve flat beer.

Avery’s is seizing the moment, and has released a special DeflateGate soda. But there are easy DIY options. Buy a case of beer. Open 11 cans. Pour a couple of ounces out. Leave them out for guests.

Time people’s bathroom breaks.

Tell all guests that bathroom breaks will be limited to 90 seconds. Reassure them that how they spend that minute and a half isn’t likely to result in a complete media frenzy.
