The trailer for the ‘Point Break’ remake is here, and the Internet is divided
Is it really necessary to reboot such a classic?
Point Break has one of the greatest last lines ever: “He’s not coming back.’’
Bodhi might not be, but the movie is.
Warner Bros. released the CGI-laden trailer for the remake of the classic 1991 action movie starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. The new one looks like it’s mostly just men jumping off cliffs, waterfalls, and ski gondolas, spliced with shots of money flying around in the air. There’s also a ton of new action sports not in the original—the movie might as well be an ad for a GoPro given how many snowboarding moves and motorcycle wheelies are featured.
A lot of the Internet isn’t into it. The hashtag #NotMyUtah brings up a slew of Tweets from fans who aren’t thrilled that Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez are replacing Reeves and Swayze as Johnny Utah and Bodhi. Many claim that the remake is unnecessary, and that the leads lack that original ‘90’s surfer attitude that made it so, well, what it was.

And, because this is the internet and every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction, some people are stoked.

Regardless of your position on the matter, it’s easy to agree that in the words of Bodhi, the trailer is “100 percent pure adrenaline!’’
