On the NBC comedy Parks and Recreation, which ended its seven-season run in 2015, one of the few things workaholic Leslie Knope (played by Burlington native Amy Poehler) and her libertarian boss, Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman), had in common was a passion for handmade gifts. Knope loved scrapbooking, while Swanson favored woodworking.

Now, Poehler and Offerman are reuniting for a show both Knope and Swanson would appreciate.

NBC announced in a press release Tuesday that it has ordered six episodes of The Handmade Project, a reality series judged by Poehler and Offerman that will pit “America’s best all-around makers” against each other in a competition involving numerous handmade projects.

“I’m thrilled to be celebrating artists who make things by hand, and I’m looking forward to finally conquering my fear of paper mache,” Poehler said in the release.

Like his Parks and Rec character, Offerman is an accomplished woodworker. The actor has written several popular books about woodworking and owns Offerman Woodshop, a woodworkers collective in Los Angeles.

“People who make things are my favorite kind of folk,” Offerman said in the release. “Practical, clever and terrific in a pinch. That makes me tickled pink to have a front row seat at this prodigious display of talent, and admiring and cheering on an amazing crop of American makers. Plus, Amy and I have a strong tradition of tomfoolery so let’s see if we don’t have some good fun.”
