‘Enjoy the weekend’: There’s a chance of rain early next week from Tropical Storm Nestor
The storm could graze the south coast of Massachusetts.

“Enjoy the weekend.”
With rain potentially on the horizon, that’s the message from meteorologists as cleanup continues from the powerful storm that knocked out power to thousands in Massachusetts this week.
A weather system, Tropical Storm Nestor, is forecast to travel from the Gulf of Mexico northeast, moving over southern states on the East Coast over the weekend and potentially brushing off the coast of southern New England early next week.

Kim Buttrick, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Boston, said the combination of the tropical storm tracking south of New England and then another storm coming in from the west will bring a chance of rain to the region Monday night through Tuesday night.
“Right now it’s going south of New England,” she said of Tropical Storm Nestor.
It’s possible the storm could end up staying far south of the region, but right now it’s too soon to call, she said. The potential impact — and chances of rain — should be more clear by Sunday evening.
In the meantime, the meteorologist advised New Englanders to enjoy the weather on tap for Saturday and Sunday.
“We just got whipped by a major storm,” she said. “There’s still a lot of cleanup.”
