Nearly 20 Mass. schools still facing delays, closings after destructive storm
Cleanups continue in some of the harder-hit areas, as downed trees continue to cause headaches.
As a massive storm tore through New England Wednesday night, hundreds of thousands lost power, and damaging winds wreaked havoc on homes and businesses. More than 24 hours later, the effects are still being felt.

Several schools shut their doors Thursday as they grappled with power outages and damage, and those closings continued into Friday. Here’s a running list of the schools facing delays and closures on Friday, October 18:
Delays:
Cohasset Public (2-hour delay)
Pembroke Public Schools (2-hour delay)
Scituate Public Schools (2-hour delay)
Closings:
Athol – Royalston Regional School District
Beverly Public Schools
Endicott College
Hamilton – Wenham Regional High School
Hanover Public
Lincoln Public School – Lincoln Campus (Hanscom schools remain open)
Norwell Public Schools
Orange Elementary Schools
Petersham Center School
Pingree School
Quabbin Regional School District
Ralph C. Mahar Regional School District
Salem Public Schools
South Shore Charter Public School
Massachusetts residents also continued to document the storm damage, which included uprooted trees, wind-ravaged buildings, and downed power lines.
