Woman drives car into Charlestown Tedeschi store
A woman caused extensive damage to the front of a Tedeschi Food Shops in Charlestown this morning when she drove her car into the building, Boston police said.
The woman told police that she had pulled into the parking lot of the Tedeschi on 140 Main St. and, while parking, “slipped and hit the gas pedal,’’ driving the car through the front doors and windows and into the back right of the store near the coolers.
Police noted that the driver appeared alert and uninjured, but the front seat passenger in the vehicle appeared dazed from the incident.
Witnesses inside and outside the shop told officers they heard a large crashing noise before seeing the vehicle drive into the store. One witness told police that the vehicle brushed against his right side, and scraped his right arm police said.
Emergency medical workers treated and evaluated those involved in the incident and the vehicle was towed, police said. The convenience store is still open.
