Skiing together is a great bonding event for families, according to Ski magazine, and the ultimate family ski destination is in Vermont.

The publication released a list of the 10 most family-friendly ski resorts in the East, part of its Resort Guide 2026, and Smugglers’ Notch Resort in Jeffersonville ranked No. 1.

Smuggs, as the resort is affectionately known, is billed as “America’s family resort.” It first opened in 1956 and today offers 1,000 acres of skiable terrain across three mountains, 78 trails, eight lifts, and plenty of programming for children.

“There might not be any better way to bond as a family than on skis,” wrote Ski magazine. “Parents passing down their love of the sport to children, kids racing mom and dad down the slopes. Hot chocolate for all! Family skiing is the best.”
