Statue in Macao

The 14,000-pound gilded bronze statue of a lotus flower symbolizes the everlasting prosperity of Macao, one of the world’s premier gambling destinations. It is perhaps the territory’s most popular photo op, especially for tourists from elsewhere in China. The People’s Republic of China
presented the territory with the symbolic statue in 1999, when Portugal returned Macao to Chinese sovereignty.
