Thrill seekers will climb aboard a new roller coaster at Six Flags New England in 2025.
The Quantum Accelerator, the park’s 12th coaster, will open next year, the park announced on Thursday. It is billed as the first dual-launch straddle coaster in New England.
The coaster will feature more than 2,600 feet of track and 11 moments of airtime, bringing “a mix of speed, thrills, and breathtaking views,” wrote park officials in a press release. The ride will run for about 2 minutes and 14 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 45 mph.
Riders will straddle a steampunk-themed hover bike for the “immersive and thrilling experience,” according to Six Flags, which will begin with an “exhilarating” 30 mph launch and follow with a series of twists, turns, and “ground-hugging” curves.
Halfway through the ride, a second launch will accelerate the vehicle to 45 mph, “adding another layer of excitement to the journey,” according to the park.
“Quantum Accelerator is an innovative addition that will redefine the family thrill ride experience at Six Flags New England,” Pete Carmichael, Six Flags New England park president, said in a statement. “With its dual-launch system and unique straddle seat design, this coaster is set to become a favorite for guests of all ages.”
In celebration of the new ride, Six Flags New England is offering a sale on tickets through Sept. 2, with up to 70 percent off admission, season passes, and more. Guests who buy a 2025 season pass now will get unlimited visits to Six Flags New England in 2025 and also for the remainder of 2024, which still includes events such as Oktoberfest, Fright Fest, and Kids Boo Fest.
