Do you want the Patriots to sign Adrian Peterson?

Debate the answer with Chad Finn and Boston sports fans at The Sports Q.

The Vikings declined to exercise their option for next season on Adrian Peterson’s contract. This made the franchise’s all-time leading rusher an unrestricted free agent.

Welcome to Boston.com’s Sports Q, our daily conversation, initiated by you and moderated by Chad Finn, about a compelling topic in Boston sports. Here’s how it works: You submit questions to Chad through TwitterFacebook, email, his

Friday chat, and any other outlet you prefer. He’ll pick one each day (except for Saturday) to answer, then we’ll take the discussion to the comments. Chad will stop by several times per day to navigate. But you drive the conversation.

I know you won’t admit it, Finn, but aren’t you a little intrigued by the rumors that Adrian Peterson would consider a team-friendly deal with the Patriots? One of the great running backs in league history, wants to win a ring, needs redemption, might have something left for a year or two. Could be a great story. – Chris P.

Running backs I would rather have carry the ball for the 2017 Patriots than Adrian Peterson:

LeGarrette Blount, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Kevin Faulk, Antowain Smith, especially Curtis Martin, Corey Dillon, Sam Bam Cunningham, J.R. Redmond, Mike Cloud, Andy Johnson, Marion Butts …

… Horace Ivory, Vagas Ferguson, Tony Collins, Leonard Russell, Don Calhoun, Robert Edwards, Robert Weathers, Terry Allen, Mark van Eeghen, Fred Taylor, Stevan Ridley, Ike Forte …

… J.D. Garrett, Lamont Warren, LaMont Jordan, Derrick Cullors, Corey Croom, Steven Jackson, Chuck Foreman, probably even Laurence Maroney, possibly Reggie Dupard, Bob Gladieux, Jim Nantz (the sportscaster, friends; Jim Nance the fearsome running back passed away in 1992), and definitely Ivy Joe Hunter.

I do not want Adrian Peterson on the Patriots. You? Good luck convincing me in the comments. He’s a bum.
