Sports Hub first, WEEI fifth in spring Nielsen Audio ratings
For the 10th time in the past 11 three-month ratings periods, 98.5 The Sports Hub finished as the top-rated radio station in Boston, according to Nielsen Audio data.
The Sports Hub earned a 9.0 share in the men 25-54 demographic for the spring period of March 26-June 17, topping classic rock station WAAF (7.8). WEEI (93.7), which like WAAF is owned by Entercom, finished fifth (6.8).
The Sports Hub, owned by CBS Radio, has been first in the past three quarterlies after finishing third in summer 2014. The station topped the previous seven three-month ratings periods before last summer.
In morning drive (6-10 a.m), The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich program was second with a 10.8 share, trailing WAAF’s The Hill-Man Morning Show (12.0). WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan program, which also features Kirk Minihane, was third (8.5).
For midday (10 a.m.-2 p.m.), the Sports Hub’s Zolak and Betrand program finished third with an 8.8 share. WEEI’s Middays With MFB was sixth (5.3). WZLX, which like the Sports Hub is owned by CBS Radio, had the first-place finisher – Carter Alan’s program earned a 10.2 share.
In afternoon drive (2-6 p.m.), Felger and Massarotti was first for the 12th straight ratings period with a 12.8 share. WEEI’s Dale and Holley program, which also includes Jerry Thornton, was second with a 7.6.
From 6-7 p.m., The Sports Hub’s programming, which is primarily the Massarotti-hosted The Baseball Reporters, was first with an 8.3 share. WEEI, which often has the Red Sox pregame show in this window, was tied for sixth (5.4).
In the 7 p.m.-midnight period, WEEI, which airs Red Sox broadcasts and The Planet Mikey Show in this window, was first with with a 7.7 share. The Sports Hub, which features The Adam Jones Show in this day part and also had some Bruins and Celtics games during the spring span, was second with a 6.6.
Last spring, the Sports Hub finished first (7.9) overall while WEEI tied for fifth (5.6).
