Someone hacked the NFL’s Twitter account and said Roger Goodell was dead
A series of tweets were quickly deleted.
The NFL says its Twitter account, which has more than 19.2 million followers, was hacked on Tuesday afternoon. In a tweet that was quickly deleted, the league’s account erroneously reported that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had “passed away.”
NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy quickly confirmed the account was hacked, and that Goodell is “alive and well,” tweeting:
The @nfl Twitter account was hacked. @nflcommish is alive and well.

After the initial tweet, two more related follow-up tweets were posted and deleted.
