The Patriots reportedly have a new top dog in their front office.
Eliot Wolf “will be in charge of the personnel department, with control of the 53-man roster, working closely with [head coach] Jerod Mayo, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
After years of Bill Belichick serving as the team’s de-facto GM, Rapoport noted that Wolf will run a collaborative partnership alongside new hire Alonzo Highsmith (senior personnel executive), Matt Groh (director of player personnel), and Patrick Stewart (senior personnel adviser).
Rapoport added that Groh will mostly handle college scouting as part of this front-office reshuffle.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss added that college scouting director Camren Williams and pro scouting director Steve Cargile will also help lead New England’s personnel department.
Wolf — who served in the Packers’ scouting department for 14 seasons before a stint as the Browns’ assistant GM from 2018-19 — has left his fingerprints all over New England’s offseason moves so far.
Reiss reported that Wolf has been involved with interviews alongside Mayo this winter, while Highsmith worked with Wolf over eight seasons between the Packers and Browns before reuniting with him in Foxborough.
Along with Highsmith’s arrival, New England is reportedly bringing back a familiar face in another personnel role.
Per KPRC’s Aaron Wilson, New England is bringing back Bobby Brown in an executive role after he spent a season with the Houston Texans. Brown’s first stint in New England was from 2016-23, including three seasons as the Patriots’ associate director of football administration.
