The Patriots are reportedly wasting no time trying to fill out the rest of Alex Van Pelt’s offensive staff.
The Patriots are “targeting” former Seahawks/Rams assistant Andy Dickerson as their new offensive-line coach, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
Dickerson, 42, has coached with the Seattle Seahawks since the 2021 season. He first started on Pete Carroll’s staff as Seattle’s offensive run game coordinator that year before taking over as the team’s offensive line coach in 2022.
During his time with Seattle, Dickerson has helped the Seahawks coach up two rookie tackles in Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas. According to Brian Hines of Pats Pulpit, Cross and Lucas became the first rookie duo to start a team’s first 15 games at tackle since the 1970 merger.
Dickerson, who interviewed for the Browns’ and Bengals’ vacant offensive coordinator positions earlier this offseason, also served in the Rams’ organization from 2012-20 as an assistant offensive line coach — learning under head coach Sean McVay for four seasons.
Dickerson already has plenty of ties to the New England area. He played offensive line at Tufts from 1999-02, while one of his first jobs in the NFL was an operations department intern with the Patriots in 2004.
He continued on as an operations department staffer in Foxborough during the 2005 season before joining the Jets as a coaching assistant / defensive quality control coach from 2006-08.
If New England poaches Dickerson from the Seahawks, he will replace Adrian Klemm as the Patriots’ O-line coach. Klemm coached New England’s O-line for just one season, but was limited during the 2023 season due to a health issue.
