Morning sports update: Devin McCourty thinks talk of Patriots going 19-0 is ‘ridiculous’
The Red Sox look to avoid getting swept by the Mariners, while Patriots training camp kicks off today.
Devin McCourty dismisses talk of 19-0: “That’s ridiculous. It’s never been done,” McCourty added. “To come into a season and talk about that is ridiculous. Now, the focus for us is just on being ready to go every week. Just try and compete and win every week. 19-0? That’s ridiculous.” (Boston Sports Journal)
Matthew Slater: We don’t believe the undefeated hype: “When it comes to a perfect season, when you hear something like that, I guess all you can do is chuckle,” Slater told Bostonsportsjournal.com, echoing teammate Devin McCourty. “I mean, it’s just so hard to even go out and just being competitive in this league. It’s so difficult. Any talk of us doing something like that, it’s not something I’d align myself with or something our team would think or talk about. Right now, we’re just thinking about going out there and stringing some good practices together.” (Boston Sports Journal)
