The line to watch Danny Amendola throw out the first pitch for the PawSox was out the door
Danny Amendola may be heading into his fifth year as a wide receiver for the New England Patriots, but the 31-year-old returned to his teenage sports roots on Thursday night at McCoy Stadium.
Amendola, who played second base for his high school baseball team, came back to the diamond to the throw out the first pitch for the PawSox in their home game against the Buffalo Bisons.

“I’ve always wanted to throw a first pitch out, and nothing like doing it in your hometown where you live,” he said, via MILB.com. “It’s cool to be here. I’ve heard a lot about this team. I have a lot of friends who come here and hang out, and I’ve always wanted to come to the stadium and see it.”
Amendola grew up in Texas but currently resides in Providence — a short distance away from the home of the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. More than 5,500 people attended Thursday evening’s contest, with many dressed in Patriots attire. At one point, the line was well out the door of the stadium.
