Brian Belichick reportedly will join the Patriots’ coaching staff next season
It appears that coaching runs in the Belichick bloodline.
Patriarch Bill Belichick is heading into his 18th season at the helm of the Patriots, touting the most of wins among active coaches in the NFL. His older son, Steven Belichick, is entering his second year as the team’s safeties coach, while his daughter, Amanda Belichick, just capped off her second season as head coach of the Holy Cross women’s lacrosse team.
So it should come as no surprise that the youngest of Bill’s three children, Brian Belichick, is expected to become a member of the New England coaching staff in 2017.
Upon graduating from Trinity College in 2016, Brian — who played both lacrosse and golf at Trinity — was hired by the organization as a scouting assistant. According to the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe, he is expected to be promoted for the upcoming season.

Bill is a big fan of having both of his sons on staff. Leading up to Super Bowl LI, he told reporters that the experience was “special” and “unlike any other.”

The trio also have a pre-game tradition of checking out the field conditions prior to kick-off at visiting stadiums.
In an interview with ESPN’s Mike Reiss prior to Super Bowl LI, Steven said, “We like to check the playing surface. That’s one thing [Bill’s] definitely taught me — every surface is different: Is it hard, is it soft, is it slick? Was it just resodded if it is just grass?”

“It’s really special for me, those times with my dad before the game,” Steven told Reiss. “Call it the calm before the storm. There really aren’t that many people out on the field at that time, just kind of us, a couple grounds crew guys.”
