Walt Anderson to Ref AFC Championship Game
Walt Anderson has been announced as the referee for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game between the Patriots and the Colts.
This is Anderson’s 16th career postseason assignment. He refereed Super Bowl XXXV between the Ravens and Giants, as well as Super Bowl XLV between the Packers and Steelers. His last postseason game was the AFC Wildcard round game last year between the Colts and the Chiefs.
Anderson was the referee for the Broncos-Patriots regular season game at Gillette Stadium in Week 9, as well as the Patriots-Dolphins game in Miami in Week 1.
Anderson carries a strong reputation as a referee and his crew (who he will not be working with Sunday) called about 1 more penalty per game than the league average in 2014.
