FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — There’s been some controversy and uncertainty at Gillette Stadium this week. Not surprisingly, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick commented on neither.

The controversy: cornerback Darrelle Revis reportedly being sent home on Tuesday after showing up late to a team meeting. Belichick declined to give any insight on what may (or may not) have happened.

“Anything between me and the players is between myself and the players,” he said.

Belichick was pressed further about whether the incident — whatever it was (or wasn’t) — will impact Revis’ playing time on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

“I think the Bears are a really good team,” Belichick replied. “I think they’re going to be a tough matchup for us. We’re going to do the best we can to match up against them.”

Now, the uncertainty: the Patriots reportedly signed defensive tackle Alan Branch earlier this week, though no signing has been made official by the team yet. Branch was spotted in the locker room on Thursday, and Belichick was asked what Branch could potentially bring to the team.

“I don’t know,” Belichick said. “I mean, we work out a lot of players around here over the course of the season. So, the ones that we bring on the roster and sign, we work with, and the ones that we don’t are there if we decide to do it.”

So, we know about as much after Belichick’s press conference as we knew before it.
