Two masked men, dressed in all black, were part of a brazen home invasion where shots were fired during broad daylight on Sunday in Saugus, according to police.
Saugus Police received a 911 call shortly after 12 p.m. on Sunday to an apparent home invasion on the residential street of Oakwood Avenue. Police say two masked men, dressed in black and armed with handguns, forced entry into a home.
Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli reports that shots were fired during the incident, but no one was injured.
Police arrested both suspects, Derek Matarazzo and Timothy Gregory of Boston. The pair is facing multiple felony charges, including home invasion, destruction of property, carrying an unlicensed firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon, and discharging a firearm near a home.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and there is no public threat. There are no other suspects involved.
Matarazzo and Gregory pleaded not guilty in Lynn District Court on Monday to nine and ten charges, respectively, related to the incident. The court ordered both them held without bail due to dangerousness and sent them to the Essex County House of Correction. Matarazzo and Gregory will return to court on May 12 for a detention hearing.
