Fenway Park looks different this summer.
With the start of the MLB season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Red Sox finally took the field at Fenway Park for the first time in 2020 on Friday, but not for a game. The Red Sox held their first “Summer Camp” practice before the regular season, which is set to start later in July.
Some notable players like Jackie Bradley Jr., Andrew Benintendi, and newcomer Alex Verdugo were among those at practice on Friday. One player who was not at practice was Eduardo Rodriguez, who is awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test after coming in contact with someone who has the virus. As a matter of fact, “some” players have tested positive for coronavirus, manager Ron Roenicke told reporters.
There were some changes made at Fenway in order to accommodate social distancing policies. Players’ locker rooms were moved from the clubhouse up to the luxury suites and workout areas were placed along the concourse inside the ballpark.
