Rusney Castillo is reportedly headed to the disabled list.

The Red Sox outfielder’s shoulder injury will land him on the 15-day DL, according to The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier. Speier says an official announcement is expected from the Red Sox on Tuesday, but cites major league sources as being optimistic with the prognosis.

Castillo injured himself diving on an attempted catch Saturday, and he received medical testing Monday in Boston. Castillo has been playing with the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox after Boston elected not to keep him on the major league roster after Spring Training.

Castillo missed a chunk of the spring due to a left oblique strain, but still enjoyed success at the plate upon his return. He batted .310 and posted a .931 OPS in nine Grapefruit League games, and was 5-for-12 in his first three games with the PawSox.

With five outfielders on the major league roster (not including Brock Holt) the Red Sox should have the depth to absorb one or two injuries on the depth chart, but it’s another yet minor setback for Castillo. The Red Sox signed the Cuban star to a $72.5 million deal last summer.
