Through First Full Turn, Sox Rotation All Aces

Remember back in spring training when the Red Sox were doomed to no better than mediocrity due to their lack of a true ace?
Through one turn of their rotation, the Sox appear intent on making you forget.
Boston has won four of the first five games of the 2015 season, and its five starters are a major reason why. The quintet of Clay Buchholz, Rick Porcello, Justin Masterson, Wade Miley and Joe Kelly has hurled 31.1 innings and allowed just eight earned runs (a 2.30 ERA) while striking out 34.
Bookended by Buchholz’s seven shutout innings on Opening Day and Kelly’s complete domination of the Yankees on Saturday in which he retired the final 17 batters he faced, the Sox have gotten a nice — albeit small — sample of the kind of pitching that could very nicely augment their revamped lineup.
They may not have the five No. 1s manager John Farrell declared were on the roster back in Fort Myers. But you wouldn’t know it based on this past week.
