Sandoval Tears Into Giants Organization, ‘Home’ With Red Sox

Pablo Sandoval may be happy to be a Red Sox but it appears he may be even happier to no longer be a San Francisco Giant.
In a profile by Bleacher Report’s Scott Miller, Sandoval lashes out at his former team, claiming both that he and his agents were “disrespected” and that he knew he’d be an ex-Giant as early as spring training of last season.
“If you want me around, you make the effort to push and get me back,” Sandoval says in the interview, while also adding that the Giants “didn’t respect my agent. Contract talks, everything. The way (Giants GM) Brian Sabean talked to my agent.”
Sandoval goes on to note that he turned down more money to stay in the city where he won three championships in favor of the five years and $95 million he received from the Sox.
“The Giants made a good offer but I didn’t want to take it,” he tells Miller. “I left money in San Francisco. It’s not about money, it’s about how you treat the player.”
Sandoval says that the only people with the Giants he will miss are manager Bruce Bochy (“he’s like my dad”) and outfielder Hunter Pence. He also has designs on staying at third base for the duration of his deal, expressing that he has no plans to eventually succeed David Ortiz as the Sox designated hitter.
“I want to play third base all five years,” he says. “I don’t like DH. I love to be involved in the game.”
Even though the Red Sox only recently embarked on their Grapefruit League slate and won’t be in Boston for nearly another month, Sandoval already feels comfortable in his new surroundings, telling Miller, “Now I feel like I’m home.”
