On the Mark

It’s difficult to remember now that back on May 3, Mark Loretta was hitting just .207.

But now Loretta, who had a one-out single to right field in the first inning tonight, is on fire. He’s 27-for-58 since that low point, raising his average to .295 in the process. He is hitting .403 for the month of May.

  • Whatever had been bothering Curt Schilling in his last two starts certainly doesn’t appear to be affecting his performance tonight. Schilling has breezed through two hitless innings, striking out three of the last four Yankees he has faced, all swinging.

And in very atypical fashion, we’ve played two complete innings of a Red Sox-Yankees game in just over 20 minutes. Surely we’ll have to make up that time down the road.
