Will the Celtics force a Game 6, or does their season end Thursday?

Welcome to Boston.com’s Sports Q, our daily conversation, initiated by you and moderated by Chad Finn, about a compelling topic in Boston sports. Here’s how it works: You submit questions to Chad through TwitterFacebook, email, his

Does the Celtics season end tonight, or do they take it to Game 6? I’m not ready to give up yet. LeBron doesn’t seem quite right. – I luv Waltah

Though I appreciate it, I’m not sure why you’re asking me – I’ve been wrong about pretty much everything in this series so far. I thought the Celtics would give the Cavs a real fight in Game 1. They didn’t. I thought they’d bounce back in Game 2. They lost by 44. I thought they’d get pummeled in Game 3. They surprised the Cavs and staggered their fans on Cleveland’s turf. You get the drift.

My hunch – and I probably don’t have to tell you to take it for what it’s worth at this point – is that the Cavs close it out tonight in a tight game. I agree that LeBron hasn’t looked right, but what the Celtics would give for a player of their own who doesn’t look right and still scores 34 points. The Celtics miss Isaiah Thomas’s offense big-time, and unless Avery Bradley, Marcus Smart and Jae Crowder are all at their best tonight, I have a tough time figuring out how the Celtics can keep pace.

Put them down for a noble loss in a season that ultimately should be regarded as a huge success.

(Now watch them go out and win by 20.)

What do you guys think? Can the Celtics extend the season tonight? I’ll see you in the comments.
