When the Boston Celtics were down 0-2 in their first-round playoff series against the Chicago Bulls, Isaiah Thomas revealed he had received some coaching from an unlikely source: Kobe Bryant.

Some fans were not thrilled with idea of a Lakers icon helping out a current Celtics star, but Bryant called the disapproval “complete nonsense” in an interview with ESPN. Those that do take issue with the pair’s mentorship, as well as those who don’t, will be happy to hear that one of Thomas’ latest pieces of advice comes from a player renowned for wearing green: Paul Pierce.

According to ESPN’s Chris Forsberg, Pierce told Thomas, “Winning is hard. You gotta take the bumps and bruises as they go. But if winning wasn’t hard, it would be for everyone.”
