The playoff banners are still hanging, for another day at least, from the North End to the West End. For one more day, the fans of Boston have more than one team to cheer for. With a win tonight, the Celtics can give their fans something to cheer about as spring turns to summer.
Welcome to the Garden, where the Celtics will take on the Orlando Magic in Game 7 of an Eastern Conference semifinal series at 8 p.m.
Paul Pierce just strolled onto the parquet to get some shots up. It’s early, so he’s alone, minus the Celtics dancers breaking a sweat at midcourt. The season comes down to this one game, but you wouldn’t know it by the relaxed manner in which Pierce is carrying himself. He’s done this before.
“Playoffs?” Pierce was overheard saying, imitating an NFL rant-turned-beer-commercial.
But this is Game 7. And as the Garden crew warmed up the Jumbrton, we got a little sneak preview of the video fans will see right before the game:
“There are Game 7s. And then there are Game 7s in Boston.”
