Bird issues statement on Tinsley
Celtics legend Larry Bird, now president of the Pacers, responded to a grievance suspended guard Jamal Tinsley filed with the National Basketball Player’s Association today in hopes of forcing a trade or a buyout. The Pacers have said that they will do everything in their power to trade Tinsley, but haven’t.
“We are aware of the grievance filed today on behalf of Jamaal Tinsley,” Bird said. “We made it clear to Jamaal and his agent, Raymond Brothers, that we would pursue a trade that we feel would be best for both parties and we continue to do so. In the meantime, we will do whatever necessary in preparing our case for arbitration should it come to that.”
